Cruel
en el cartel is a stroll in Buenos Aires guided by the woman's image
on advertising bills and signs. It's also a homage to the figure of the
woman like fetish and permanent icon of publicity and propaganda. The
main thread of the film is the Tango Afiches (words by Homero Expósito
and music by Atilio Stampone, written in 1956 and sung by Roberto Goyeneche
in 1973). The film uses the language of the video clip, but with documentary
essence, because its object is to show the town with a diferent view.
Cruel en el cartel is part a larger project integrating other musical
themes.

been shown in the Muestra de Documentales de América Latina, à
Huelva, Madrid and Barcelona, Spain and in the Rencontres des Cinemas
Latinoamericains 2002, in Toulouse, France.

Raul Ignacio Manrupe was born in Buenos Aires in 1960.
Historian
of the cinema, next to Alejandra Portela is the author of an Argentine
Film dictionary (Corregidor, 1995), reference book for investigators,
critical and aficionados. This book classifies and locates within his
historical context more than 2,000 Argentine sonorous films from 1930.
The edition of a second volume will be published soon. As a journalist,
Raul has collaborated in magazines specialized like Film, Cosa
and El Amante.
Graduate
in publicity by the Universidad LED El Salvador, his work as advertising
designer was rewarded by several national and international prices.
Fan
to graphic archaeology, Raul has exposed photos and posters of his private
collection. He dedicate to film production since 2000. Cruel en el
cartel is his first docu-clip, first step in an ambitious work aiming
at showing its city, Buenos Aires, in a different documentary way, through
various illustrative musical topics.
